Recently, the well-known comedian Vice Ganda reminded the public about the importance of paying taxes and their right to demand transparency in the spending of collected funds. At a gathering on Tuesday, March 4, Vice was recognized as one of the top taxpayers in Quezon City.
"Being a top taxpayer feels like you've done something right and contributed to this country," Vice said. He encouraged the public to follow the requirement. "We are obliged to pay taxes," Vice added.
He emphasized the citizens' right to hold the government accountable for the spending of tax funds. "In every action we take, we pay taxes. It's our right to question and speak because it's our money that has been used," Vice stated.
Among other notable personalities recognized as taxpayers at the event were Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis Trillo, Dingdong Dantes, Kim Chiu, Darren Espanto, and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
This event raised public awareness about the importance of fulfilling the obligation to pay taxes and their right to seek explanations for the spending of collected taxes.
